Ship out of Jubilee Party now, Murathe tells Ruto and allies.

Jubilee Party Vice Chair David Murathe now claims that Deputy President William Ruto has failed the test of succeeding President Uhuru Kenyatta once he leaves office in 2022.

Speaking to Citizen TV’s Waihiga Mwaura on Tuesday night September 1, Murathe stated that Ruto has been on probation but has failed the leadership litmus test and hence is not the right person to lead Kenya after Uhuru.

“This guy (Ruto) has been on probation, he has been tested and all this time they were trying to see if they can actually leave this country in his hands but unfortunately the jury is out there,” Murathe stated.

He said the President has an obligation of looking around and getting the right person to pass the baton to, so that he can avoid the blame from future generations of handing over power to the wrong person.

The DP had last week accused Murathe of leading a cabal that has hijacked Jubilee Party and is trying to push him out of the party and frustrate his 2022 presidential ambition.

“Jubilee is not functioning as a party. There is a problem …Unfortunately the party has been hijacked by busy bodies and conmen and brokers like Murathe and company. People who have no clue on the philosophy behind Jubilee. …Their word has become the party position”, DP Ruto stated during the interview with Citizen TV’s Joe Ageyo last week.

But in a rejoinder Murathe responded to the hijacking claims stating that Ruto and his people have never been kicked out of the party but chose to leave and launch the Jubilee Asili outfit. He however warned Ruto to toe the line or ship out of the party and accused him and his troops of gross insubordination and disrespecting the president on various occasions.

“If I remember correctly, he said we are junior members of Jubilee Party. So how can junior members of the party run him out of town, how can junior members hijack the party. They are the people who left jubilee house and went and formed something called the Jubilee Asili Centre and said that is where they will be operating from. Nobody chased them from Jubilee house,” Murathe said.

With the 2022 race starting to heat up, Murathe stated that he will support Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s candidature, sending signals of a possible coalition between Jubilee and ODM in the run up to the 2022 polls.

“In 2022 there will be new political formations & I’m hoping we will be on the same side with the Rt Hon. Former Prime Minister as Jubilee. I know the ‘Tuko sote pamoja’ wing may have other ideas & that’s why we are saying the sooner they ship out the better,” Murathe stated.
