Ministry of Health releases Sh3bn emergency allowance for frontline healthworkers

Health PS Susan Mochache has revealed that Sh3.4b approved by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission to cater for frontline health workers dealing with the Coronavirus pandemic has been released. The funds were approved to take care of the said frontline healthworkers owing to the challenges they face in dealing with the pandemic.

County governments will receive Sh2.3b for the healthworkers and an additional Sh20 million for psychological support. State corporations that will also receive part of the money include:

  1. The Kenyatta National Hospital – Sh157 million
  2. The Moi Teaching & Referral Hospital – Sh107 million
  3. The Kenyatta Teaching Research & Referral Hospital – Sh12 million
  4. The Kenya Medical Research Hospital – Sh8 million

According to a report published on the Daily Nation, sh500 million has also been allocated to county governments that are not covered in any medical scheme.
