Senate adjourned to 2.30pm following arrest of Senators Langat & Lelegwe

Senators have unanimously voted to adjourn Senate special sitting debating the revenue allocation formula until 2.30pm following the arrest of Bomet Senator Christopher Langat and his Samburu counterpart Steve Lelegwe. Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala, on the other hand, has been unable to leave his house after DCI officers surrounded his Kitengela home on Monday.

Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka indicated that the adjournment would give ample time for the security committee to find out the whereabouts of three senators. The senators alleged that the three, Langat, Lelegwe and Malala, were being intimidated for taking stand different from the State’s on the revenue sharing formula.

”Mr. Speaker, I second that we adjourn this motion until we get confirmation. Who knows while we are conducting this business what is happening to Senator Lelegwe. He could be found in Ngong Forest,” lamented Senator Mutula Kilonzo.
