Seven leaders from the Mt Kenya region met with the newly appointed Majority Leader of the National Assembly Hon. Amos Kimunya on 8th July 2020 to congratulate him on his appointment. The seven include Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi, Laikipia Governor Ndiritu Muriithi, Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui, former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth, Kirinyaga Senator Charles Kibiru, Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki and speaker of the National Assembly Justin Muturi.
”We are here to appreciate President Uhuru Kenyatta for the appointment of Kimunya and that’s why we have come to congratulate Mheshimiwa Kimunya”, indicated Governor Kiraitu Murungi after the meeting.
The Majority Leader also explained that the meeting was of a consultative nature with the aim to congratulate him on his appointment.

Mr. Kimunya was appointed as Majority Leader following the ejection of Garissa Township MP Aden Duale during a Jubilee PG meeting chaied by the Party Leader President Kenyatta on 22nd June 2020.
