A police driver from the Karuri police station in Kiambu County who is alleged to have infected 12 cellmates at the station with Covid-19 will be buried today at his farm in Chogoria, Meru County. The deceased had taken ill about two weeks ago and had been in hospital, according to reports by Kiambu County Police Commander Ali Nuno.
Commander Nuno had earlier indicated that he could not confirm whether the driver had passed on, ”…I cannot confirm his death at the moment since I have not visited the hospital. Only the doctors can confirm this”, he had said.
The 12 inmates have since been taken to Thika for isolation and treatment. The country is experiencing a surge in the number of cases, with the case load now at 14,805. 260 people have succumbed to the disease since the first case was confirmed in March 2020.
