Detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission have today arrested the Kenya Bureau of Standard Managing Director Bernard Njiraini amid bribery allegations at the State corporation. Njiraini is said to have repeatedly failed to comply with investigation officers and consequently frustrating the conclusion of the probe in good time.
In a press statement available to the public, the EACC revealed that Mr Njiraini had failed to comply with a notice issued to him pursuant to section 27 and section 66 of the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Act No.3 of 2003. The graft agency has been probing alleged procurement irregularities and payment of bribes in the tendering process for the provision of used motor vehicles, mobile equipment among others.
Mr. Njiraini has been taken to the agency’s offices for questioning and to have his statement taken.
