The Jubilee Party has summoned its members of County Assembly for what they have termed as a consultative meeting ahead of Friday’s vote to elect a new County Speaker following Elachi’s resignation on Tuesday. In a letter to the Assembly, Jubilee Party SG Raphael Tuju directed all the 65 MCAs to attend the meeting to be held on Thursday ahead of the D-day,

”In light of the current developments at the Nairobi County Assembly, you are required to attend a consultative meeting of all Jubilee elected and nominated members of County Assembly at Jubilee Party Headquarters in Pangani at 12 noon on Thursday, August 13, 2020 without fail,” said part of the letter.

The consultative meeting coincides with a disciplinary hearing on 8 MCAs over what the ruling party has termed as misconduct following the chaos that took place at the Assembly. The eight include:

  1. John Kamangu – Acting Speaker
  2. Millicent Mugadi – Ziwani MCA
  3. Jeremiah Karani – Kayole Central MCA
  4. Charles Thuo – Dandora Area 3 MCA
  5. June Ndegwa – Nominated MCA
  6. Joyce Kamau – Nominated MCA
  7. Susan Makungu – Nominated MCA
  8. Margaret Mbote – Nominated MCA

The 8 are required to appear before the disciplinary committee on Thursday for a hearing over the said misconduct at the City Hall when a section of MCAs attempted to physically eject the then Speaker Beatrice Elachi.
