Migori County Governor Obado has on Monday been granted a bail of Ksh8.75 million or a Ksh73.4 million bond when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Lawrence Mugambi to answer charges of embezzlement of public funds. Obado had been arrested alongside his family members on August 26th in Kisii after DPP Nordin Haji approved the arrest and prosecution of the county chief over the embezzlement of about 73 million shillings.
The case rings familiar to other county governors who have been found culpable in various instances including the Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko, former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu and Samburu Governor Moses Lenolkulal. The magistrate directed that the Governor be escorted to pick his belongings from the county offices.
