DCI arrests suspects in connection with Kilimani robbery captured on camera

Four suspects have been arrested by detectives from the DCI after a robbery incident captured on CCTV  along Lenana Road on 25th June 2020. The footage shows the victim being accosted by two of the suspects, one brandishing a firearm while his partner a knife with which they used to threaten the victim as they grabbed his belongings. The footage also shows one of the suspects hitting the victim across the forehead with the firearm. The four who were arrested include the two young men captured on camera in the act, an accomplice who was harbouring the gang in her house in Pangani and another accomplice also arrested during the operation. The suspects were smoked out of their hideouts in Kawangware, Gatina and Pangani and have since been detained awaiting arraignment in Court.

Kenyans lauded the efforts by the DCI in swiftly bringing the suspects to book. The arrest comes after the investigative agency received the footage which was widely circulating on social media. The arrest comes at a time when armed robbery incidents are on the rise. Another footage that surfaced on 29th June 2020 shows gun-wielding thugs robbing a liquor store in Umoja 1 estate in Nairobi on 26th June 2020. at around 8.46pm.
