The Ministry of Health has confirmed 650 more Covid-19 cases from a sample of 6,768 tested within the last 24 hours. The new cases have increased the cumulative number of cases to 28,754.
Speaking during the daily briefing at Afya House, CAS Dr. Mercy Mwangangi said that another 490 patients had recovered from the disease, bringing the total number of recoveries to 15,100. In the same period, 4 more patients succumbed, raising the death toll in Kenya to 460. The CAS indicated that the National Emergency Response Committee had been meeting regularly to offer policy direction on the Covid-19 pandemic.
Dr. Mwangangi also explained that 21 counties are currently being retrained on the management of emergency operation centres. In a bid to boost the country’s preparedness in handling the disease, 33 laboratories are doing Covid-19 testing. Mobile testing laboratories have also been deployed at various border points such as Mai Mahiu, Namanga and Malaba.
