Confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Kenya have now hit the 5000 mark after the ministry reported Wednesday June 24 of an additional 254 new confirmed cases.
The new 254 cases now raise the total tally to 5,206 of confirmed cases and were drawn from a sample of 4,859 samples tested over the past 24 hours.
41 patients have also been discharged from various facilities after recovering from the disease bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,823.
However according to Health CAS mercy Mwangangi during the daily Ministry of Helath Covid-19 status updates, two patients have succumbed over the same period raising the number of fatalities to 130.
Nairobi County continues to lead in the number of confirmed cases with 127 of the reported 254 new cases traced in Nairobi.

Dr.Mwangangi was flanked by Health Ministry officials among the Director of Medical Services Dr. Patrick Amoth who stated that majority of those who have succumbed to Covid-19 are over 60 years.
“Majority of those who have died from COVID-19 are over 60 years of age with pre-existing medical conditions…We are recording fewer community deaths… Deaths reported today occurred in hospitals (KNH and KU)” Dr Amoth stated.
