COVID-19 UPDATE: Kenya confirms 397 more cases as 12 succumb to the disease

Health CAS Dr. Rashid Aman has confirmed that 397 people have tested positive for the Coronavirus disease in the country. This brings the case load to 14,168.

The 397 were part of a sample of 3637 tested in the last 24 hours. Nairobi continues to lead in number of cases with 239 people. followed with

642 people have recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 6258. 587 of those who recovered were in home-based care while the others had been admitted at various hospitals. However, 12 people have succumbed from the disease. The fatalities now stand at 250.

Dr. Aman urged Kenyans to adopt a healthy diet from various food groups in order to boost their immunity and protect themselves from the disease. He also indicated that there is ongoing scientific study to determine why men are more susceptible to the virus that women. He explained that there was still a lot about the disease that is yet to be unraveled including why the disease progresses rapidly in some people as soon as they show symptoms and also why others remain asymptomatic. The CAS indicated that scientific research has been enlightening so far in showing that people with underlying factors are at a higher risk of succumbing to the virus.
