Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has announced that 278 people have been confirmed positive for the Coronavirus disease in the country from a sample of 3,053 in the last 24 hours. This brings the total number of confirmed cases to 8,528.
196,508 samples have been tested so far by the Ministry of Health. 89 patients have been discharged from various hospitals, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,593. 2 patients have however succumbed to the disease, bringing the total number of fatalities to 169.
Speaking in Makueni on a tour of the County, the CS indicated that he was impressed by the level of preparedness in there, ”Makueni County has been extremely organized, and has demonstrated a high standard of readiness”, he also said that the Health Ministry has hired 252 healthcare personnel of all cadres to boost the human resource capacity in the County, and that an additional hiring of 110 personnel was ongoing.
CS Kagwe however re-emphasized the importance of exercising caution amid partial reopening of the economy, ”We are now dealing with a virus that is well established at the community level. All counties, except 5, have reported cases of COVID-19”, he said.
