Omar Lali, boyfriend to the late Tecra Muigai, is today counting his lucky stars after the Court drops murder charges against him following an application by the Director of Public Prosecutions seeking to to terminate the case.
The late Tecra passed on May 2020 after falling from the staircase in a private home located in Shella on Lamu island. Tecra was living with her boyfriend Lali, who became a prime suspect in the investigations to establish the cause of her death. Omar Lali had earlier been detained but was released on 27th May on a Sh300,000 bond with two sureties provided by his mother and brother-in-law. He was rearrested on Monday, 13th July 2020, for appearance in court.
The DPP has since applied for an open inquest into the death of the Keroche heiress.
